Conspiracy Of Watergates Scandal and Flight 533
Dorothy’s eldest son, St. John Hunt, wrote a book called DOROTHY: The Murder of E. Howard Hunt’s Wife where he explains his reasons why he believes his mother's death was murder. The death of their mother caused Saint to go into substance abuse and Kevan and Lisa to blame the murder on their father E. Howard Hunt. His mother was an operator at the CIA while his father was a CIA Station Chief. In his book, Saint explains how around the time everything was happening he was at the age of 16 when his parents finally revealed they were working with the CIA. His father met Nixon and were friends at some point in time before everything happened. Nixon started to fear Hunt since his father knew so much. The Watergate scandal began on June 17, 1972. Multiple people were arrested in the office of Democratic National Committee. It was in the Watergates building in Washington, DC. Richard Nixon was involved which was connected to his reelection campaign, and they were caught stealing document and wiretapping phones. The result of this had 48 government officials found guilty and 69 were charged including the following men:
Jeb Stuart Magruder- Head of CREEP, Plead guilty to conspiracy,
H.R Haldeman- Chief of Staff for Nixon, convicted of perjury,
Frederick C. Larue- Advisor to John Mitchell, convicted of Obstruction of Justice
John N. Mitchel- Attorney General of the United States, convicted of perjury.
On December 8, 1972, Flight 553 crashed in the residential area of the west block of 70th pl and Lawndale in Chicago, Illinois. The crash gained tons of attention when a Chicago representative George Collins, Dorothy Hunt, and Michelle Clark were killed on the flight. Mrs. Hunt’s briefcase was found in the debris which inside was 10,000 in $100 bills. Right before Mrs. Hunt died, she purchased a $250,000 life insurance policy. Michelle Clark, born in Gary Indiana, became a CBS News journalist. She was investigating the Watergate Scandal which included interviewing Dorothy Hunt. Mr. Hunt was threatening to reveal details of the organization of the Watergate break-in and who paid him. According to Sherman H. Skolnick, a campaigning author, and journalist, Clark had an insight into the bugging and cover-up through her boyfriend who was a CIA operative. Mrs. Hunt also took part in the negotiations with Charles Colson. Flight 553 was expected to land at Midway Airport when Captain Wendell Lewis Whitehouse called in that his plane was “in trouble.” Whitehouse made several mistakes while going down into Midway. he was forced to make was a “non-precision instrumental approach” that ended in a fatal disaster. NTSB had cleared to the public that the crash was due to the pilot’s mistakes.
